Website, Registration, and Publicity

Website

  • Contact Hubert to get ssh access to the webpage
  • Create BAPHL header graphic and background image
    • Otherwise, just reuse css and information from previous BAPHL pages
  • Good idea to have this up about a month ahead of time
  • Put up a "Looking for Group" page so lone hunters can find a team
    • Past practice has been to email the baphl account, but it would be easier to just have a page where people can ask/receive team members

Registration

  • Set up a google form and embed in website
  • Set up paypal button to the paypal account of your team
  • Set a registration cap
  • Put up a specific time that registration closes (11:59PM EST for instance)
    • Make sure deadline gives you enough time to produce puzzles
    • Expect a lot of last minute registrations. BAPHL 10 had 6 of 42 teams register in the last 24 hours (and 1 team contacted us after the deadline to register)
  • Ask for both the team captain's email and phone number so you can contact the team during the event
  • Ask how new teams heard of the event

Possible Publicity Avenues

  • E-mail the BAPHL Google Group (BAPHL 9 had trouble getting this to work)
  • Create a Facebook event
  • E-mail the NPL mailing list (if you care about that sort of thing)
  • Get a slide at the Big Quiz Thing
  • Announce a date at the previous BAPHL (or for spring, at the MIT Mystery Hunt)
